Blog Post #1

All about Courtney Block:
My name is Courtney Block I am in my Junior year of college. I wanted to study in being an Elementary School Teacher because I am very creative, organized, energetic, and friendly. I enjoy being around little children and being able to teach them things that I know. It brightens my day to see their faces light up and say "I got it!!"
Before getting to college I lived with both of my parents and my two sisters, whom I adore. Both of my parents served in the military and both earned the major ranks. I've lived in many different places such as Nevada, Colorado (twice), Florida (twice), Mississippi, Nebraska, and finally Mobile where I plan on staying. My mom decided to retire after 20 years and 2 months. My father on the other hand decided to stay in, and will be retiring within the next year.
I am a mother to a 10 month old little boy named Derrick. His father is Brandon Bess, he is my boyfriend and hopefully my soon to be husband. Those two drive me wild, but they keep me strong and keep me working hard. When I get down time I do love to read interesting novels and sit and watch TV. One of my biggest pet peeves is when things are unorganized.
Dr. Pausch
While I was watching Dr. Pausch's video he discussed one major topic , which was time management. He said that in order to be able to have time management you have several different things that need to get established first, such as making a “Plan.” Dr. Pausch discussed that you can always change the plan but you can’t change it if there isn’t one set up in the first place. Also he suggested that when there is a plan or a “To Do List” in place do not put the worst thing there is to do last. I agree with this because in the end that certain thing still has to get done.  All that I really know about Dr. Pausch is that he is a computer professor at the University in Pittsburgh and that he has helpful online videos for students.
Time Management:
In the Time Management Exercises all the suggestions that they discussed are very helpful to me, but I believe the ones that will help me the most is Stop Procrastinating, using a Planner, and Monitoring my time. I am a huge procrastinator! I always tell myself “Oh I have one more day” or “Its not due until next week.” Using a planner would be great just because I always tend to forget what I need to do and at what time.  Monitoring my time I think would be helped also by using my planner so that I know when I can spare time and make sure that everything is done.

  1. Courtney,
You did a great job introducing yourself, it was very well written. The only thing I would say is to put a space between the different topics to make it more clear. Other than that, I don't see any spelling mistakes nor grammar mistakes. You did every part of the assignment even down to the optional portion very well. I'm very excited that we have so many young adults wanting to become teachers because there is always a need for them for and students need dedicated teachers to be there for them. I enjoyed reading your post very much, and I am right there with you when it comes to time management and procrastination. My planner has became my best friend and it is very useful so definitely invest in one. Overall it was a great first post and I hope to read more of your posts.
